This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of discovery learning model in terms of the enhancement of students mathematical comunication skill. This research used pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of grade VIII of Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 in academic year of 2016/2017 that were distributed into 3 classes, then it was selected 2 classes as samples through cluster sampling technique. The result of data analysis of matematical communication skill showed that discovery learning model was not effective in terms of the enhancement of students mathematical comunication skill.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model pembelajaran discovery ditinjau dari peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pretest posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Mummadiyah 3 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 yang terdistribusi dalam 3 kelas, kemudian diambil 2 kelas sebagai sampel melalui teknik cluster sampling. Hasil analisis data kemampuan komunikasi matematis menunjukkan bahwa model discovery learning tidak efektif ditinjau dari peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: discovery learning, efektivitas, komunikasi matematis
