Penerapan Discovery Learning untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Luwes Materi Larutan Penyangga

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the practically, effectiveness, and effect size of discovery learning model to improve students flexibility thinking skill on buffer solution topics. The method of this research was poor experimental with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sample this research was students of XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Gedong Tataan for 2016/2017 academic years that was obtained by using cluster random sampling. Practicality was measured by implementation of discovery learning model and students response. Effectiveness was measured by the teachers ability, students activity, and n-gain average of students flexibility thinking skill, while the effect of discovery learning model was measured based on effect size value. The results showed that discovery learning model was practice, effective, and has big effect size to improve students flexibility thinking skill on buffer solution topics.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan kepraktisan, keefektivan dan ukuran pengaruh (effect size) model discovery learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir luwes siswa pada materi larutan penyangga. Metode penelitian ini adalah poor experimental dengan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Gedong Tataan tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 yang diperoleh menggunakan cluster random sampling. Kepraktisan ditentukan dari keterlaksanaan model discovery learning dan respon siswa. Keefektivan ditentukan dari kemampuan guru, aktivitas siswa, dan rata-rata n-gain keterampilan berpikir luwes siswa, sedangkan pengaruh model discovery learning ditentukan dari nilai effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model discovery learning praktis, efektif, dan memiliki ukuran pengaruh yang besar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir luwes siswa pada materi larutan penyangga.Kata kunci: discovery learning, keterampilan berpikir luwes, larutan penyangga.
