Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) as a demanded skill in the 21st century is very important for students today. Currently learning activities are still dominated by most teachers limited to explaining concepts in an informative manner and giving examples of problems so that the HOTS development of students cannot be accommodated. HOTS needs to be applied and developed by teachers in learning including by mathematics teachers to change the stigma of learning difficulties in mathematics. Mathematics teachers must have the ability develop HOTS-oriented learning. This research is phenomenological research that includes the process of analyzing planning documents, observations, and interviews involving Mathematics teachers in Subang Regency. The results showed the teacher had tried to do Mathematics oriented to HOTS despite finding several obstacles. Developing HOTS in the implementation of learning can be in the form of making questions or stimulus, simplifying unstructured problems into several sub-problems and involving all students in small discussions. Teacher consistency in developing HOTS in learning is needed to get students to think at a high level more and more
