Contextualization of the religious humanism perspective Mohammed Arkoun is the idea of adjusting the religious character in the program of strengthening character education. Religious humanism is a part of Islamic humanism (literary, religious, and philosophical) that can be implemented in Islamic elementary education. In this article, the author finds the religious humanism of Mohammed Arkoun’s perspective more relevantly applied in Islamic elementary education because it is more contextual, does not depress the intellect, orthodox, and emphasizes the value of Sufism according to the religious character in strengthening character education. In the course of strengthening character education there are only religious characters, but Arkoun details in several stages. First; understand the visible soul, repenting, avoiding sin, and renouncing nature, suffering to achieve inner perfection, being patient, surrendering to God and willing to die. Second; believe in reality, full of hope, joy, have heart, and purification of lust. Third; spirit, love with endeavor, narrow, fear, awareness of the servant in leaving the immoral, intimate, resigned, innovation, and connect unity. Contextualization of religious humanism becomes the effort to succeed in strengthening character education in Islamic elementary education.
