Abstract

Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa teknik reverse merupakan solusi yang tepat sebagai metode latihan untuk  mengembangkan keterampilan tangan kiri subjek, dan bahwa penggunaan teknik reverse dapat digunakan secara maksimal dengan strategi  yang tepat berupa pembagian waktu yang baik saat berlatih, serta melakukan latihan dengan cara bertahap mulai dengan tempo yang lambat hingga tempo yang ditargetkan dengan penerapan pada register middle C.kata kunci: hand reversal, left-handedness, teknik reverseThe purpose of this research is to identify the successful application of the reverse practice for left-handed pianist subject as one of the piano playing strategies to improve left hand skills through the song 'Beautiful Love' by Victor Young and develop the reverse practice technique to be a solution for left-handed pianist subjects to improve left hand skills. This purpose of research is derived from the challenge experienced by the subject, which is inadequate or inappropriate training techniques and strategies as the subject is forced to adapt living in a majority of right-handed society. With the use of hand reversal and left handedness theories and case study research method, data was collected from the subject's personal notes from the timeline development of etude and song practice as well as the subject's personal reflection. This research discovers that the reverse technique is the right solution as a training method to develop subject's left hand skills, and that the use of the reverse technique can be used optimally with the right strategy in the form of a good division of time when practicing, while doing exercises in a gradual manner starting with a slow tempo to a targeted tempo with application in the middle C register.keywords: hand reversal, left-handedness, reverse technique
