IMPROVED SKILLS IN IDENTIFYING CLASS VI MAGNETIC TRAITS AS WELL AS HIGHER-ORDER THINKING SKILLS THROUGH LEARNING MODELS PROBLEM BASED LEARNING AND DEMONSTRATION METHODS ABSTRACT This study aims to improve the skills of identifying magnetic properties and higher order thinking skills (HOTS) of grade VI students through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with a scientific approach and demonstration method. The research was conducted at SD Negeri Bangbayang 03, with research subjects totaling 15 grade VI students. The PBL approach is implemented in two research cycles, with stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Research instruments include Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), Student Worksheets (LKPD), formative tests, and observation sheets. Pre-cycle results show low student achievement in the material identifying magnetic properties. The application of PBL in the first cycle resulted in an increase, but there were still some obstacles in student activities and learning conclusions. Therefore, in cycle II improvements were made, especially in maximizing group discussions and providing better understanding. The results showed that in cycle II there was a significant improvement, with 100% of students achieving minimal completeness in formative tests and LKPD. Student activity also increased to 93.33%. This indicates that the PBL model with a scientific approach and demonstration method is effective in improving the skills of identifying magnetic and HOTS properties of grade VI students. In conclusion, the application of the PBL model with a scientific approach and demonstration method can improve the learning outcomes of grade VI students in identifying magnetic properties and developing higher-order thinking skills. The suggestion for future research is to conduct research with a larger number of subjects and deepen the analysis of the influence of scientific approaches and demonstration methods separately.
