In this study, which is a quantitative correlational research, fifth-grade pupils at SDN 17 Bajoe, East Tanete Riattang District, Bone Regency, are asked to read aloud and then respond to questions based on the HOTS algorithm. This study's population consisted of all fifth-grade pupils at SDN 17 Bajoe and utilized techniques of saturated sampling. The sample consisted of 47 students. In data collection techniques, experiments are used. Descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis are employed for data analysis. According to descriptive statistics, the average score for reading comprehension in the excellent category was 89.49, while the average score for answering HOTS-based queries in Indonesian language subjects was 79.26. At a significance level of 5%, inferential statistical analysis indicates that rcount > rtable (0.511 > 0.2876). Consequently, H1 is approved while H0 is rejected. The research findings indicate that, for class V students at SDN 17 Bajoe, East Tanete Riattang District, Bone Regency, there is a significant relationship (in the medium range between 0.40 and 0.599) between the ability to read comprehension and the ability to respond to HOTS-based questions in the Indonesian language subject.
