<![CDATA[COMMUNITY, BOOKS, AND THE PAST: THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF EASTERN INDONESIAN AUTHORS TOP FIVE FINALISTS OF THE KUSALA SASTRA KHATULISTIWA 2019AbstractThis research aims to find out Arianto Adipurwanto's creative process in writing Bugiali which led him to become a finalist in the top five of the 2019 Equatorial Literature Collection. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data source is in the form of interviews with resource persons and a collection of Bugiali short stories. Data collection was carried out by interview techniques. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive which consists of selecting, reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the birth of short stories in Bugiali cannot be separated from the past story, reading materials, and the role of the Komunitas Akarpohon Mataram and the figure of Kiki Sulistyo who became Adipurwanto's mentor in helping him write. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data berupa wawancara dengan narasumber dan kumpulan cerpen Bugiali. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif yang terdiri atas memilih, mereduksi, menyajikan, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lahirnya cerpen-cerpen dalam Bugiali tidak dapat dipisahkan dari kisah masa lalu, bahan bacaan, dan peran Komunitas Akarpohon Mataram dan sosok Kiki Sulistyo yang menjadi mentor Adipurwanto dalam membantunya menulis. Dengan demikian, lingkungan dan mentor yang mendukung membantu penulis pemula dalam mengembangkan kompetensinya dalam menulis karya sastra.Kata kunci: proses kreatif, menulis, cerita pendek, Bugiali]]>
