Abstract

Proses pembuatan menggunakan metode hand lay- up. Abstract: Vehicle components are protected by installing bumpers on the body of the carrier. In the event of a collision, the main purpose of the bumper is to reduce direct and severe impact on the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle's components. Bamboo plants can be used to create composite materials due to their strength and environmentally friendly qualities. This thesis will discuss the "Development of a Prototype Car Bumper Based on Impact Testing" using natural fibers as the layer or skin and epoxy resin as the matrix. The manufacturing process utilizes the Hand lay-up method. The results of this research include the process of bumper creation, starting with the prototype bumper design, positive moulding, negative moulding, bumper construction involving fiber alignment and Hand lay-up process, and finishing process. Deformation simulation analysis of the bumper with bamboo natural fiber reinforcement yielded a deformation value of 16,100 mm. The bumper's tensile strength testing simulation demonstrated its ability to withstand a tension of 172.08 MPa. Impact testing of the 3mm thick bumper with bamboo natural fiber reinforcement showed it could withstand damage up to 3.21 J.   Keywords: Bumper, Hand lay-up, Impact Bamboo Natural Fiber.
