Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis tanda yang terdapat dalam puisi “Ila Ummi” karya Mahmoed Darwish dan maknanya. Peneliti menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang melibatkan penelitian kepustakaan, dengan pendekatan teori semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan semiotika sastra, yang bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna-makna simbolik dalam karya sastra melalui sistem tanda dan relasinya.  Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini yakni terdapat jenis tanda berupa ikon, indeks dan symbol dalam puisi tersebut namun struktur syairnya didominasi oleh symbol yang mengindikasikan adanya penggunaan bahasa piguratif yang tinggi dimana makna tidak tersampaikan secara langsung tetapi melalui representasi yang mengandalkan konvensi budaya dan interpretasi pembaca. Abstract: This study aims to analyze the types of signs contained in the poem "Ila Ummi" by Mahmoed Darwish and their meanings. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research type involving library research, with a Charles Sanders Pierce semiotic theory approach. The data analysis technique is carried out with a literary semiotic approach, which aims to reveal symbolic meanings in literary works through the sign system and its relations. The results of this study found types of signs in the form of icons, indexes and symbols in the poem, but the structure of the verse is dominated by symbols which indicate the use of high figurative language where the meaning is not conveyed directly but through representations that rely on cultural conventions and reader interpretation.
