Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low science learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 104213 Deli Tua which is caused by the use of less varied learning models, lack of learning media, learning activities only centered on the teacher, and students tend to be less active in the learning process. This study aims to determine how the influence of the discovery learning model on the science learning outcomes of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 104213. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental research type with a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of a control class (IV A) totaling 28 students and an experimental class (IV B) totaling 28 students. The instrument used in this study was a multiple-choice test consisting of 40 questions. The data analysis techniques used in this study were normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test. Based on the results of the study, the average score of the experimental class students was 79.14 and the average score of the control class students was 63.71. The results of the hypothesis test with a significant value 0.000 <0.05 then the calculated t value ˃ the t table value is 8.246 ˃ 2.048, then H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that the discovery learning learning model has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of students in science in grade IV of SD Negeri 104213 Deli Tua.
