The severe overcrowding at the Class IIA Karang Intan Narcotics Prison has resulted in a substantial increase in the workload of correctional officers. This study aims to analyze the effect of workload on job stress among officers using a quantitative correlational approach. A total of 46 officers were selected through purposive sampling. The instruments employed include the Health & Safety Executive-Work Related Stress Scale (HSE-WRSS) and the Role Overload Scale (ROS). Simple linear regression analysis using JASP revealed that workload significantly affects job stress (R² = 0.146; F(1,44) = 7.51; p < 0.05), contributing 14.6% to stress variation. These findings indicate a direct positive correlation between increasing workload and heightened job stress. Theoretically, this study supports the validity of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) model of job stress within the context of correctional institutions in Indonesia. Practically, the findings provide a foundation for the development of more adaptive human resource management policies, including effective workload regulation and the provision of psychological support programs for correctional officers.
