The growth of Islamic banking tends to be slower when compared to national banking, which shows that there are still various challenges or obstacles that must be overcome by Islamic banking. Similarly, the great potential that should be owned to boost the development of Islamic banking. However, the reality is that until now, the growth rate of Islamic banking is still far behind that of conventional banks. The purpose of this study is to reveal the various obstacles faced by Islamic banking in Indonesia in its growth process. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature, using data collection techniques through interviews and documentation. The findings of this study show that the barriers to the growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia include the lack of human resources who understand Islamic banking well, the lack of socialization received by the public, the low literacy about Islamic banking among the public, the lack of enthusiasm and public trust in Islamic banking, and the delay in the existence of regulations that specifically regulate Islamic banking. This does not only apply to delays or barriers in the growth of Islamic banking in Indonesia, but also applies nationally.
