MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENENTUKAN KALIMAT UTAMA DALAM PARAGHRAF MELALUI MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING PADA SISWA KELAS V

This research aims to find out whether the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can improve students' ability to determine the main sentence in a paragraph in class V students at SDN 4 Kota Barat. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK), with data collection techniques in the form of observation, tests and documentation. Based on the results of initial observations, only 8 students (42%) were able to determine the main sentence in a paragraph well, while the other 11 students (58%) had not achieved this ability. In the implementation of cycle I, after implementing the PBL model, students' ability to determine the main sentence increased to 12 students (63%). In cycle II, the results increased, with 18 students (94%) succeeding in determining the main sentence well. The results in cycle II show that the expected performance indicators have been achieved. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model is effective in improving the ability of fifth grade students at SDN 4 Kota Barat in determining the main sentence in a paragraph. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan kalimat utama dalam paragraf pada siswa kelas V SDN 4 Kota Barat. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK), dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal, hanya 8 siswa (42%) yang mampu menentukan kalimat utama dalam paragraf dengan baik, sementara 11 siswa (58%) lainnya belum mencapai kemampuan tersebut. Pada pelaksanaan siklus I, setelah diterapkan model PBL, kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan kalimat utama meningkat menjadi 12 siswa (63%). Pada siklus II, hasilnya semakin meningkat, dengan 18 siswa (94%) yang berhasil menentukan kalimat utama dengan baik. Hasil pada siklus II menunjukkan bahwa indikator kinerja yang diharapkan telah tercapai. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model PBL efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas V SDN 4 Kota Barat dalam menentukan kalimat utama dalam paragraf.
