Abstract

Kata kunci: ekspresi Ki67, indeks mitosis, kanker payudara Abstract Breast cancer is a malignant disease characterized by abnormal cell growth in breast tissue. The Ki67 protein, found in the cell nucleus, is associated with cell proliferation and prognosis. Mitosis is the regulated division of cells controlled by genes. The mitotic index is used to assess the percentage of dividing tumor cells. A total of 50 samples of breast cancer patient examination data were taken from a population of 100 patients at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital in 2022 using purposive sampling techniques. This observational research employed a cross-sectional approach and analyzed the data using the chi-square test. The findings revealed that the majority of 35 patients (70.0%) with breast cancer were aged 41-60 years. Among them, 4 patients (8.0%) exhibited low Ki67 expression, 22 patients (44.0%) had intermediate Ki67 expression, and 24 patients (48.0%) showed high Ki67 expression. Regarding the mitotic index assessment, 9 patients (18.0%) scored 1, 17 patients (34.0%) scored 2 and 24 patients (48.0%) scored 3. The results of statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between Ki67 expression and mitotic index with p value (0.014) < α (0.05). Ki67 and mitotic index correlate with breast cancer prognosis, when a cell cleaves its cell-expressing bound Ki67 protein. Keywords: expression of Ki67, mitotic index, breast cancer
