Abstract

Low awareness and limited knowledge about the importance of iron (Fe) tablet consumption are the primary reasons for poor adherence to supplementation programs. This activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of pregnant women regarding the importance of taking Fe tablets to prevent anaemia during pregnancy. The methods included health education sessions and the distribution of educational posters using a door-to-door approach, accompanied by pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge: before the intervention, only 15% of respondents had good knowledge, which increased to 90% after the intervention. Furthermore, community responses were highly positive as the door-to-door approach effectively reached the target participants. This activity demonstrates that health education combined with visual educational media can effectively raise awareness and encourage pregnant women to regularly consume Fe tablets. Therefore, educational and participatory interventions are effective strategies to reduce anaemia rates among pregnant women, particularly in rural communities.
