Abstract

ABSTRACT A positive classroom climate is an important factor in supporting the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children in early childhood education settings. This study aims to examine the role of teachers in creating a classroom climate that is conducive, safe, and enjoyable for young children. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving two teachers at TK Negeri Pembina Banjarmasin Utara 2 who have more than five years of teaching experience and hold a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. The research data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and written documentation, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that teachers play a crucial role in fostering an enjoyable classroom climate through effective management of the physical environment, the implementation of varied instructional strategies, and the strengthening of positive emotional relationships with children. The study concludes that the teacher’s role is not limited to instruction alone, but also encompasses functions as a facilitator, motivator, and mentor in creating a conducive, interactive, and inclusive learning environment for young children. ABSTRAK Iklim kelas yang menyenangkan merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam mendukung perkembangan sosial, emosional, dan kognitif anak usia dini di satuan PAUD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran guru dalam membangun iklim kelas yang kondusif, aman, dan menyenangkan bagi anak usia dini. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan dua orang guru di TK Negeri Pembina Banjarmasin Utara 2 yang memiliki pengalaman mengajar lebih dari lima tahun dan kualifikasi pendidikan minimal sarjana PAUD. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi kelas, wawancara mendalam, serta dokumentasi tertulis, kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan dengan dukungan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru berperan penting dalam menciptakan iklim kelas yang menyenangkan melalui pengelolaan lingkungan fisik, penerapan strategi pembelajaran yang variatif, dan penguatan hubungan emosional yang positif dengan anak. Simpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa peran guru tidak hanya terbatas pada kegiatan mengajar, tetapi juga mencakup fungsi sebagai fasilitator, motivator, dan pendamping dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif, interaktif, dan inklusif bagi anak usia dini.
