Abstract

Character strengthening through the integration of Islamic values in Islamic Religious Education learning that emphasizes Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is an effort to manage Islamic Religious Education learning. This effort is a response to the problems in the implementation of Islamic education, which has not yet been fully optimal in instilling Islamic values to build students’ mental health. In this study, a literature review approach was used to collect data sources from scholarly works. The research findings indicate that the concept of integrating Islamic values into Islamic Religious Education learning includes ideas, concepts, and activities related to the integration of Islamic values in the learning process within the learners themselves. The integration of Islamic values in this learning process also serves as a response to the current condition of Islamic Religious Education implementation, which in practice has not been systematically based on theories, concepts, and learning designs of character values, so that positive character transformation can be achieved. Character strengthening through the integration of Islamic values in Islamic Religious Education learning that emphasizes Higher Order Thinking Skills represents a formulation of theoretical concepts and their practical integration in Islamic Religious Education learning to build students’ mental health.
