The book Sufism and Diversity in the Archipelago by Prof. Dr. H. Syamsun Ni'am, M.Ag, reviewed in this paper, offers a new perspective on the relationship between Sufism and diversity, pluralism, and nationalism in Indonesia. Through historical and sociological studies, the author traces the thoughts and practices of Sufi figures in the archipelago, from Walisongo, KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, KH. Achmad Siddiq, to KH. Abdurrahman Wahid. They present Sufism not merely as an individual practice, but as a social energy that gives birth to tolerance, moderation, and love for the homeland. This book emphasises that Sufi values are in line with the principles of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, thus serving as an epistemological basis for nation-building amid the threats of radicalism, identity polarisation, and national crisis. The uniqueness of this work lies in its success in linking classical Sufi teachings with the contemporary Indonesian context, while also showing that pluralism is not just discourse, but a real practice in national life. With its in-depth and systematic analysis, this book makes an important contribution to the study of Sufism, religious social sciences, and the discourse of pluralism, and is relevant as an academic and practical reference for maintaining national harmony in the modern era.
