Abstract

In this digital era, innovation in learning media is needed to increase student engagement and learning effectiveness, especially in Natural Sciences (IPA) subjects. The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs of students and teachers for the use of educational games to support problem solving skills in elementary schools. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with participants of students and teachers of grade V of elementary school. The data collection technique for this study was carried out through observation, interviews, and questionnaires (checklists) filled out by participants as research subjects. The results of this study indicate that most students still have difficulty in understanding science material. On the other hand, teachers also face challenges in the learning process in the form of how to deliver material in an interesting way so that it can stimulate students' critical thinking skills. Thus, the integration of educational games in science learning not only meets the needs of students and teachers, but also plays a role in developing problem solving skills.Di era digital ini, inovasi media pembelajaran sangat dibutuhkan dalam memingkatkan keterlibatan siswa dan efektivitas pembelajaran, khsusunya pada mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis mengenai kebutuhan siswa dan guru terhadap penggunaan game edukasi untuk mendukung kemampuan problem solving di sekolah dasar.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode mix methode dengan 17 responden yang terdiri dari 16 siswa dan 1 guru kelas lV Sekolah Dasar di salah satu Kecamatan Kebumen. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket (checklist), dan tes yang diisi oleh pastisipan sebagai subjek penelitian. Data danalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif, kemudian diintegrasikan untuk memahami kebutuhan game edukasi dalam pembelajaran IPA di sekolah dasar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa sebagian besar masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi IPA. Disisi lain, guru juga menghadapi tantangan dalam proses pembelajaran berupa bagaiman penyampaian materi secara menarik sehingga dapat merangsang kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Dengan demikian, integrasi game edukasi dalam pembelajaran IPA tidak hanya memenuhi kebutuhan siswa dan guru, namun berperan dalam mengembangkan keterampilan problem solving.
