Abstract

This study aims to explore the integration of the Islamic value of Istiqomah as a foundation for maintaining student discipline at SMP Jabal Rahmah Mulia Medan. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman thematic model. The results reveal that the integration of Istiqomah is implemented through a holistic ecosystem involving structured religious habituation such as congregational prayers and tahfizh the consistent exemplary behavior (uswatun hasanah) of teachers, and the use of self-reflection tools (muhasabah). These findings demonstrate that internalizing Istiqomah successfully shifts student discipline from extrinsic compliance driven by fear of sanctions to an intrinsic commitment rooted in spiritual integrity. Consequently, the study concludes that a value-based spiritual approach provides a more sustainable model for character development compared to conventional disciplinary methods, as it fosters self-regulated consistency among students.
