<![CDATA[AbstrakKetersediaan hijauan pakan yang berkualitas dan berkelanjutan menjadi kendala utama bagi peternak di Desa Mallari, Kecamatan Awangpone Kabupaten Bone, akibat ketergantungan pada rumput liar dan terbatasnya pemahaman teknis budidaya. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas peternak melalui demonstrasi plot (Demplot) budidaya rumput gajah. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yang meliputi tahap sosialisasi, evaluasi awal (pre-test), penyuluhan teoretis, praktik demplot, dan evaluasi akhir (post-test). Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada masing-masing indikator evaluasi, diantaranya peningkatan pemahaman terbesar sebanyak 151,4% dalam hal teknik penanaman dengan derajat kemiringan 45. Keberadaan demplot berfungsi sebagai sarana edukasi visual yang efektif dalam mengubah pola pikir peternak tradisional menjadi lebih sistematis. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melalui metode demplot berhasil menginisiasi kemandirian pakan di tingkat desa, meskipun diperlukan pendampingan lanjutan terkait manajemen pasca-panen. AbstractThe availability of quality and sustainable forage remains a major constraint for farmers in Mallari Village, Awangpone District, Bone Regency, due to heavy reliance on wild grass and limited technical understanding of cultivation. This community service activity aims to enhance farmer capacity through demonstration plots (Demplot) of elephant grass cultivation. The method employed was Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), which included stages of socialization, initial evaluation (pre-test), theoretical extension, practical demplot implementation, and final evaluation (post-test). The results of the program showed an improvement across all evaluation indicators, with the most significant increase in understanding reaching 151.4% pertaining to planting techniques using a 45° inclination. The presence of the demplot serves as an effective visual education tool in transforming the mindset of traditional farmers to be more systematic. This community service through the demplot method has successfully initiated feed self-sufficiency at the village level, although further mentorship regarding post-harvest management is required.
