Background: Independent laboratory practice is part of the curriculum that must be implemented, which is carried out in the nursing laboratory whether accompanied by a lecturer or not. Observations made by researchers in nursing laboratories obtained information that not all students carry out independent practice activities in the laboratory. This study aims to determine the relationship between the motivation and attitude of nursing study program students in conducting independent practicum in the laboratory. Methods: This research is a descriptive correlative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were students of S1 Nursing and D3 Nursing study programs in the fourth semester of the University of Muhammadiyah Pekajangan Pekalongan. The sampling method used a proportional stratified random sampling technique with a total of 144 respondents. Motivation and attitude questionnaires using Google form. Results: Motivation of nursing study program students towards laboratory independent practicum with a good category of 51% and a category of “Less Good” of 49%. The attitude of nursing study program students in doing an independent practicum in the laboratory with the “Good” category of 52% and the attitude category “Less Good” of 48%. There is a very significant relationship between motivation and the attitude of nursing study program students in carrying out independent practicum in the laboratory, as evidenced by the results of the Chi-Square test with the results of the Asymp. Sig (P- Value) <0.05, namely 0.000. Hypothesis testing using Chi-Square with the results of the Asymp. Sig (P-Value) <0.05 Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between motivation and student attitudes in doing laboratory independent practicum. Suggestion: increase the motivation and positive attitude of nursing students both internally by providing an understanding of the importance of independent practicum in the laboratory and externally, with rewards, facility support, and good service.
