Abstract

Abstrak. Diabetes melitus merupakan salah satu penyakit tidak menular yang prevalensinya terus meningkat di Indonesia, khususnya di wilayah pedesaan. Kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai pencegahan dan pengelolaan diabetes menjadi salah satu faktor risiko utama. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kader kesehatan Desa Pemangkih Baru terkait diabetes melitus melalui edukasi dan pelatihan. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan interaktif dan diskusi kelompok kecil yang melibatkan 13 kader kesehatan desa. Materi mencakup pengenalan gejala, faktor risiko, pencegahan, serta penatalaksanaan sederhana diabetes melitus. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pengetahuan kader. Mayoritas hasil evaluasi peserta berada pada kondisi tetap dan meningkat. Selain itu, kader lebih percaya diri dalam menyampaikan informasi kepada masyarakat dan menjadi mitra aktif dalam upaya promotif dan preventif. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader kesehatan desa, sehingga diharapkan dapat membantu menurunkan angka kasus diabetes melalui peran aktif kader di tingkat komunitas. Abstract. Diabetes mellitus is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence continues to rise in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Lack of public knowledge about diabetes prevention and management is a major risk factor. This community service aims to improve the health cadres' knowledge of diabetes mellitus in Pemangkih Baru Village through education and training. The methods used were interactive counseling and small group discussions involving 13 village health cadres. The materials covered the introduction of symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and simple management of diabetes mellitus. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in the cadres' knowledge. Most participants showed knowledge that either remained the same or increased. In addition, the cadres became more confident in delivering information to the community and became active partners in promotive and preventive efforts. In conclusion, this training was effective in enhancing the knowledge and skills of village health cadres, and it is expected to help reduce the incidence of diabetes by increasing cadres' active role at the community level.
