Abstract

Competition between siblings is a phenomenon that often occurs in families with more than one child. WHO data shows that millions of children in Asia experience competition between siblings. Rivalry between siblings is characterized by aggressive behavior and can have negative emotional impacts. One of the factors that affect competition between siblings is the level of mother's knowledge, so mother's knowledge has an important role in efforts to prevent competition between siblings.   The purpose of this study is to see the effect of parenting education on the level of mother's knowledge in dealing with competition between siblings in school-age children (6-12) years old in Cipicung Village. The research method uses quantitative with a pre-experimental design, carried out in one group. With a pretest-posttest group design. The measurement tools in this study used multiple choice questionnaires  and checklist questionnaires. Sampling was done using purposive sampling using the lemeshow formula with a total of 71 respondents. The analysis of this study uses the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study showed a p-value = 0.001. In conclusion,  there is an effect of parenting education on the level of mother's knowledge in dealing with competition between siblings in school-age children (6-12 years) in Cipicung Village, marked with a p-value of 0.001 (p0.05).
