Abstract

Abstract: The increasing prevalence of smoking among Indonesia's young generation requires serious attention given its negative long-term health impacts. Data from the 2019 Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) shows that 4 out of 10 students aged 13–15 years old have tried tobacco, with the majority obtaining cigarettes through shops (76.6%), stalls (71.3%), and kiosks (71.3%) and as well as buying them individually (60.6%). This situation illustrates how easy access to cigarettes is in the student environment. The activity aims to increase students' knowledge about the negative impacts of smoking through educational and participatory counseling methods. The activity was carried out at the Efeta Christian Education Foundation Junior High School, Kampung Wakde 1, involving 26 junior high school students. Evaluation using pretest and posttest questionnaires with results showing that there was an increase in knowledge from 30.76% to 58.76%. Collaborative strategies between schools, parents, and students effectively support the strengthening of supervision and prevention of smoking behavior.
