Abstract

Noise in the workplace is one of the risk factors that can endanger the health and safety of workers. Noise exposure is commonly found in industrial areas such as factories, production machinery, and activities around airports. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 430 million people worldwide suffer from hearing loss. This study aims to analyze the relationship and effect of noise exposure on hearing loss among workers in Indonesia. The research method employed is a systematic literature review with a meta-analysis approach, involving the stages of searching, screening, and analyzing data from relevant scientific articles. The results of the meta-analysis show a p-value of < 0.001, indicating a statistically significant association between noise exposure and hearing loss. The Odds Ratio (OR) value of 2.643 suggests that workers exposed to noise levels exceeding the Threshold Limit Value (TLV) are 2.6 times more likely to experience hearing loss compared to those who are not exposed or are exposed to noise levels below the TLV. The 95% Confidence Interval (CI) ranges from 1.513 to 4.610. Based on these findings, it is recommended that both workers and companies regularly measure noise levels, use hearing protection equipment, and conduct ongoing education and evaluations of workplace hazards.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is the second-largest country in the world where its population still practices open defecation (OD). This leads to around 150,000 Indonesian children dying each year due to various diseases caused by poor sanitation. Yobeh Village is one of the villages located on the shores of Lake Sentani in Jayapura District, Jayapura Regency. The purpose of this community service is to provide education on the use of the Floating Toilet Model to reduce environmental impacts and prevent the spread of diseases in Yobeh Village, Sentani District, Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency. The method used is socialization and a question-and-answer approach. The results of the socialization showed an increase in knowledge, as the community responded well and shared the issues they had been facing, such as the health impacts of open defecation. The awareness of the community changed, and they began to realize the importance of using a proper toilet (Floating Toilet). Community participation showed high enthusiasm with many questions and responses from the participants, creating a dialogue between the presenter/speaker and the residents. This activity successfully improved the knowledge, awareness, and participation of the community regarding the importance of using toilets in the lake area.

Abstract

Purpose: Papua Province is Indonesia's largest contributor to malaria cases, accounting for 81% of the national malaria burden. These cases are concentrated in City of Jayapura, Jayapura Regency, Keerom, Mimika, Sarmi, Mamberamo Raya, Asmat, Boven Digoel, and the Yapen Islands. Given this high concentration, there is an urgent need for accelerated efforts to reduce malaria cases, particularly in these areas, to improve the overall malaria situation in Papua. Self-medication behavior plays a crucial role in malaria treatment, but fostering the desired knowledge and behavior around self-medication is challenging. This study surveyed the understanding of malaria and self-medication practices among the local population of Papua. Methods: The survey involved 100 respondents in areas with access to doctors and community health centers (Puskesmas) in Harapan Village, Jayapura Regency. Results: While there is strong knowledge about malaria transmission, significant gaps remain in safe self-medication practices, such as improper medication use and storage. These findings highlight the need for better public education on the importance of following medical instructions and seeking timely medical consultation when self-medication fails. Conclusion: Despite having relatively better access to a public health center, the local Papuan community still exhibits unsafe self-medication practices for malaria treatment. There is an urgent need to improve malaria treatment literacy and educate the community on proper treatment behaviors to ensure more effective malaria control.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) in elementary schools aims to improve children’s nutritional status, but its success largely depends on clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS), especially the habit of handwashing before eating. This community service activity aimed to educate first-grade students at SD Negeri Inpres Kotaraja, Kota Jayapura, about the importance of washing hands with soap before consuming MBG meals. The methods used included simple counseling, demonstration of the six-step handwashing technique, and supporting media such as songs, posters, and educational games. Direct observations were conducted to assess student engagement and behavior changes before mealtime. The results showed that students were enthusiastic in participating and began to develop the habit of handwashing before eating. This program received support from teachers and parents and was considered effective in fostering healthy behavior habits from an early age. This education is expected to support the sustainable success of MBG implementation and increase awareness of PHBS in the school environment. Keywords: Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) Education, Handwashing with Soap (HWWS), Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), Elementary School, Child Health Empowerment
