Edukasi Menabung Sejak Dini dan Pelatihan Pembuatan Celengan Kreatif dari Bahan Bekas di UPT SDN 05 Sei Balai Batubara

Abstract

ABSTRAK Edukasi menabung sejak usia dini merupakan salah satu bentuk literasi keuangan yang penting untuk ditanamkan pada anak-anak. Kebiasaan ini membantu membentuk perilaku hemat, mandiri, dan terampil mengelola keuangan di masa depan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan sebagai bagian dari program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di UPT SD Negeri 05 Sei Balai pada 24 Juli 2025, dengan melibatkan 68 siswa dari kelas 4 dan kelas 5. Tujuan utama kegiatan adalah memberikan pemahaman dasar tentang konsep menabung, sekaligus mengembangkan kreativitas siswa melalui praktik langsung pembuatan celengan dari bahan bekas. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi edukasi menabung yang disampaikan melalui ceramah interaktif, diskusi, dan praktik langsung. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman yang signifikan. Sebanyak 74\% siswa kelas 4 dan 88\% siswa kelas 5 berhasil memahami materi yang disampaikan. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi dalam membuat celengan dan termotivasi untuk menabung menggunakan karya mereka sendiri. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan literasi keuangan dan kreativitas siswa sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: menabung, literasi keuangan, kreativitas, daur ulang, siswa sekolah dasar ABSTRACT Early-age saving education is a crucial form of financial literacy that must be instilled in children. This habit is vital for shaping frugal, independent, and financially skilled behavior in their future. This community service activity was conducted as part of the Community Service Program (KKN) at UPT SD Negeri 05 Sei Balai, Batubara, on July 24, 2025. The program aimed to provide a basic understanding of the concepts and benefits of saving, while also developing students' creativity through hands-on practice of making piggy banks from recycled materials. A total of 68 students from grades 4 and 5 participated in this event. The methods used included the socialization of materials through interactive lectures, discussions, and direct practice. Evaluation was conducted via oral questions and observations to measure students' comprehension and enthusiasm. The results showed a significant increase in understanding, with 74% of grade 4 students and 88% of grade 5 students successfully grasping the material. This difference in comprehension was also analyzed in relation to students' age and cognitive development. Furthermore, students demonstrated high enthusiasm in creating their piggy banks, which aligns with the effectiveness of practice-based learning methods. This program proved to be effective in improving financial literacy and creativity among elementary school students, providing a strong foundation for positive financial habits.
