Meningkatnya intensitas penggunaan media sosial di kalangan mahasiswa dapat berdampak pada kemampuan mereka dalam mengendalikan diri serta mengambil keputusan secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara self-control dan rendahnya autonomy mahasiswa Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) Universitas Sriwijaya dalam penggunaan media sosial. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan metode korelasaional. Sebanyak 139 mahasiswa yang dilibatkan sebagai sampel penelitian dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner self-control dan autonomy yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket menggunakan skala Likert, yang didukung dengan observasi dan dokumentasi serta uji korelasi Product Moment Pearson untuk melihat hubungan antarvariabel. Hasil analisis juga mengungkap adanya hubungan negatif antara self-control dan rendahnya autonomy mahasiswa, yang mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi self-control yang dimiliki mahasiswa, semakin rendah tingkat keterbatasan autonomy yang dialami. Temuan ini menegaskan peran penting self-control dalam meminimalkan rendahnya kemandirian mahasiswa dalam penggunaan media sosial. Oleh karena itu, penguatan self-control dipandang perlu sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan autonomy mahasiswa PPKn Universitas Sriwijaya di tengah perkembangan era digital. The increasing intensity of social media use among students can have an impact on their ability to control themselves and make independent decisions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-control and low autonomy among students of Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) at Sriwijaya University in their use of social media. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a correlational method. A total of 139 students were involved as research samples using simple random sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through self-control and autonomy questionnaires that had met validity and reliability tests. Data were collected through questionnaires using a Likert scale, supported by observation and documentation, as well as Pearson's Product Moment correlation test to see the relationship between variables. The results of the analysis also revealed a negative relationship between self-control and low autonomy among students, indicating that the higher the self-control possessed by students, the lower the level of autonomy limitations experienced. These findings confirm the important role of self-control in minimizing low independence among students in the use of social media. Therefore, strengthening self-control is considered necessary as an effort to increase the autonomy of Civic Education students at Sriwijaya University amid the development of the digital era.
