Koi fish (Cyprinus carpio) are highly popular ornamental fish among hobbyists in both domestic and international markets. However, the concentration of koi farming activities in East Java creates challenges for distributing fish to other regions, both within and outside Java. This study aimed to determine the most efficient transportation system among wet, semi-wet, and dry systems for transporting koi fish fingerlings. The study was conducted over 36 days at a koi fish facility located at Jl. KH. Asyari No. 96, Bondowoso. The equipment used included a digital scale, air stones, aeration tubing, a thermometer, a dissolved oxygen (DO) meter, universal pH strips, a camera, an oxygen cylinder, and a blower. The materials consisted of 60 healthy koi fingerlings measuring 5–7 cm, packaging bags, and labels. An experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, consisting of three transportation treatments with two replications. For 5-cm fish, the wet system used 7–8 L of water, the semi-wet system used 5 L of water, while the dry system used no water and instead employed damp foam placed at the bottom of the bag. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at P > 0.05, with no further post hoc test conducted. The results showed that the dry system using damp foam resulted in the highest mortality compared with the wet and semi-wet systems. Water quality was monitored before transportation and during the five-day rearing period. Water quality conditions contributed to mortality in the dry system, particularly in the first replicate on days 3 and 4, with a total of seven mortalities. The study concluded that closed transportation using the wet system was the most effective, with a survival rate of 90%.
