Abstract

Koi fish (Cyprinus carpio) are highly popular ornamental fish among hobbyists in both domestic and international markets. However, the concentration of koi farming activities in East Java creates challenges for distributing fish to other regions, both within and outside Java. This study aimed to determine the most efficient transportation system among wet, semi-wet, and dry systems for transporting koi fish fingerlings. The study was conducted over 36 days at a koi fish facility located at Jl. KH. Asyari No. 96, Bondowoso. The equipment used included a digital scale, air stones, aeration tubing, a thermometer, a dissolved oxygen (DO) meter, universal pH strips, a camera, an oxygen cylinder, and a blower. The materials consisted of 60 healthy koi fingerlings measuring 5–7 cm, packaging bags, and labels. An experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was applied, consisting of three transportation treatments with two replications. For 5-cm fish, the wet system used 7–8 L of water, the semi-wet system used 5 L of water, while the dry system used no water and instead employed damp foam placed at the bottom of the bag. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at P > 0.05, with no further post hoc test conducted. The results showed that the dry system using damp foam resulted in the highest mortality compared with the wet and semi-wet systems. Water quality was monitored before transportation and during the five-day rearing period. Water quality conditions contributed to mortality in the dry system, particularly in the first replicate on days 3 and 4, with a total of seven mortalities. The study concluded that closed transportation using the wet system was the most effective, with a survival rate of 90%.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the production level of vannamei shrimp farming in Tlanakan District, Pamekasan Regency, East Java, and to analyze the factors affecting production in semi-intensive vannamei shrimp farming in the area. The study was conducted for 30 days in Tlanakan District, Pamekasan Regency, East Java. A survey method was employed, with data collected through direct observation, interviews, questionnaires, and field observations. Multiple linear regression was used for data analysis. The results showed that stocking density, feed, paddle wheels, and pond area were factors affecting vannamei shrimp production. Based on the ANOVA results, the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that the variables had a significant effect on vannamei shrimp production. The calculated test value was also greater than the tabulated value (500.724 > 0.4973). Therefore, the independent variables in this study significantly affected the dependent variable, namely shrimp production.

Abstract

The main issues in gourami cultivation is the high need for feed. In order to reduce the high need for feed, a strategy that was applied is gastric emptying. This study aimed to find out the effective time for mastering gourami (Osphronemus gourami) and maximizing feed efficiency, minimizing feed conversion ratios, and minimizing the amount of feed consumption needed. This research was carried out by maintaining gourami in aquariums using 4 various times, one day get fed and one day off , two days get fed and one day off, three days get fed and one day off, and fed daily, each treatment was repeated 5 times. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). Feed was given ad-satition method for 40 days. The main parameters used are feed efficiency, food conversion ratio (FCR), and number of feed consumption. Data on this study were analyzed by using variance analysis. The results showed that gastric emptying at different time intervals had no effect on feed efficiency, did not affect the food convergence ratio, and affected the amount of feed consumption followed by the smallest real difference test and it was found that P1 treatment had no significant effect, P2 treatment and P3 had significant effect, and P4 treatment really had a significant effect on treatment. Water temperature in this study ranged 26-28 ° C, and pH ranged from 7.9 to 8. Thus, the best amount of feed consumption is 73.60 grams in P3 (three days get fed and one day off), the best feed efficiency is in P3.
