Abstract

The low literacy level of Indonesian students based on the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results has become an important concern in education, including Islamic education learning. Islamic religious literacy is needed to help students understand Islamic teachings contextually in order to improve ISMUBA learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Islamic religious literacy on the ISMUBA learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Jember. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The sample consisted of 77 students selected using total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation of ISMUBA report card scores. The research instruments were tested using validity and reliability tests, while data analysis was conducted through normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests using IBM SPSS Statistics 22. The results showed that Islamic religious literacy had a positive and significant effect on ISMUBA learning outcomes with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.558 indicated that Islamic religious literacy contributed 55.8% to students’ ISMUBA learning outcomes, while the remaining 44.2% was influenced by other factors outside the study. Therefore, strengthening Islamic religious literacy through religious habituation and literacy activities in schools needs to be continuously developed to improve the quality of ISMUBA learning.
