This study aims to describe the role of teachers in the character development of fourth-grade elementary school students. Character development in elementary school students is important because, at this stage, students begin to build habits, attitudes, discipline, responsibility, and values that will influence their personality. Teachers have an important role in developing these characters. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 0209 Bahal Batu with the research subjects being the fourth-grade teacher and fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation.The results of the study show that teachers have an important role in shaping students’ character through learning activities and daily habits at school. Teachers develop students’ character by providing examples of discipline, responsibility, honesty, hard work, and politeness. In addition, teachers also implement classroom rules, provide guidance, and create a learning environment that supports students’ character development. The obstacles found in character development are related to students’ backgrounds and the influence of the environment outside the school.Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the role of teachers is very important in the character development of elementary school students. Teachers need to continue improving learning strategies and providing good examples so that character values can be instilled in students.
