Early reading skills are a fundamental skill that elementary school students must master to support their learning success in various subjects. This study aims to analyze the effect of using flashcards on the early reading skills of third-grade students at Cibodas 1 Elementary School. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method using a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. The sample consisted of 24 students selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a pre-reading ability test before and after the treatment. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and a Paired Sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the average score from 62.92 in the pretest to 83.13 in the posttest. The hypothesis test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between scores before and after using flashcards. These findings indicate that flashcards are effective in improving students' early reading skills. Therefore, flashcards can be used as an alternative learning method to increase the engagement and literacy skills of elementary school students.
