This study aimed to determine the implementation of the Deep Learning approach in Islamic Religious Education and to examine its role in improving students’ learning outcomes in Class VIII.I of SMP Negeri 20 Makassar. The study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students and the learning process that was still dominated by teacher centered activities, resulting in limited student participation and understanding of the learning material. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study were 32 students of Class VIII.I SMP Negeri 20 Makassar. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, observation, and documentation and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The findings indicated that the implementation of the Deep Learning approach contributed positively to the learning process and helped improve students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. Through active participation, discussion activities, and meaningful learning experiences, students were encouraged to understand the material more deeply and apply their knowledge in learning activities. Therefore, the Deep Learning approach can be considered an effective alternative for supporting the improvement of learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education.
