Abstract

Pancasila Education learning in elementary schools, particularly on the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia, is still predominantly conducted through lecture-based instruction and the use of less interactive learning media. As a result, students tend to be passive and have difficulty developing a deep understanding of the material. This condition highlights the need for innovative learning media that can enhance student engagement and strengthen conceptual understanding. This study aimed to develop a Pop-Up Book learning medium for the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia for fifth-grade elementary school students that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects included expert validators, fifth-grade teachers, and fifth-grade students from three elementary schools in Puncak Lawang. Data were collected through validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results indicated that the developed Pop-Up Book achieved an average validity score of 92.5%, which falls into the very valid category. The practicality test results showed that teachers' responses ranged from 95% to 97.5%, while students' responses ranged from 93.38% to 95.83%, all of which were categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test, based on the N-Gain Score analysis, yielded scores of 0.7217, 0.7607, and 0.7392 across the three schools, indicating a high level of effectiveness. These findings demonstrate that the developed learning medium is effective in improving students' learning outcomes. Therefore, the Pop-Up Book is considered suitable as an innovative alternative learning medium for teaching the topic of Cultural Diversity in Indonesia in Grade V elementary schools.
