Chronic Kidney Failure (CKD) is a non-communicable disease that requires long-term care. The success of therapy in CKD patients depends not only on patient adherence to hemodialysis but also on how patients perform self-care outside the hospital environment. This study aims to determine the description of self-care in CKD patients. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive-explanatory approach and was conducted from March to July 2024 with 32 respondents domiciled in Yogyakarta City and Sleman Regency. The research measurement tool used the HDSMI-18 questionnaire. The results showed that the description of self-care in CKD patients, seen from the dimensions of partnership, self-care, problem-solving, and emotional management, was included in the very good category. Hemodialysis activities are routine for CKD patients. This activity creates repeated meetings between patients and nurses, which can foster good self-care attitudes, hone problem-solving skills, and manage emotions in CKD patients. This study concluded that all four dimensions of CKD patient care were included in the very good category. Researchers recommend that patients maintain and improve self-care by actively participating in educational activities conducted at health facilities.
