Escherichia coli bacteria is one of the bacteria that can cause health problems for humans, including in Indonesia. This encourages the need for ways to deal with health problems. Indonesian people have been familiar with the tradition of medicine using plants around the community such as green betel leaves (Piper betle (L)). Betel leaves contain many compounds that can work as antibacterials, so they can be used to overcome problems caused by Escherichia coli bacteria. The purpose of this study was to extract green betel leaves (Piper betle (L)), the compound content in the extract was used to determine the antibacterial ability against Escherichia coli bacteria. The method in this study was to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) by tube dilution. The results of the study The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) produced at a percentage of 2%. The study concluded that green betel leaf extract (Piper betle (L)) has the ability as an antibacterial against Escherichia coli bacteria.
