This study aims to improve students' understanding of concepts and learning outcomes through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in microbiology material for class X-D at SMA Negeri 2 Pamekasan. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) carried out in two cycles by adapting the Kemmis and Taggart model, which includes the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 34 students, including 19 boys and 15 girls. Data collection was done through tests and observations. The data were analyzed descriptively, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to find out the improvement in students' understanding of concepts and learning outcomes. The research results show that applying the Discovery Learning model can improve students' conceptual understanding. On average, students' concept understanding increased from 35.29 in the pre-cycle stage to 53 in cycle I and then increased again to 85 in cycle II. In addition, students' learning outcomes also improved, as shown by the higher number of students achieving good and very good categories in each cycle. The application of the Discovery Learning model also enhances students' activeness in the learning process through activities like observing, discussing, collecting information, and discovering concepts independently. Thus, the Discovery Learning model is effective for improving students' conceptual understanding and learning outcomes in microbiology material in class X-D at SMA Negeri 2 Pamekasan.
