<![CDATA[Character building of students is one of the main objectives of Islamic education, which covers cognitive and affective aspects. However, its implementation at SMAN 1 Batang Anai still faces various challenges from within the students themselves, their family environment, and limited school facilities. This study aims to (1) describe the character building of students at SMAN 1 Batang Anai, and (2) describe the obstacles faced by teachers in its implementation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects include the principal, Islamic education teachers, guidance counselors, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that (1) there are eight forms of moral guidance at SMAN 1 Batang Anai, namely the methods of exemplary behavior, habituation, advice, stories, parables, rewards and punishments, practice, and contemplation and reflection; (2) there are five obstacles faced by teachers, namely limited facilities and infrastructure, diverse student family backgrounds, lack of coordination between parents and teachers, the influence of technology and social media, and limited allocation of time for PAI BP learning.]]>
