Background: The implementation of deep learning in junior high school science is often constrained by limited learning media that can provide immediate and meaningful feedback to facilitate student reflection. Objective: This study aims to develop Real-Time Feedback Responsive Learning (RT-FReL), an interactive medium designed to provide immediate feedback and facilitate reflective deep learning in Junior High School Science. Method: The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, pretest-posttest instruments (measuring conceptual mastery as an indicator of deep understanding), student response questionnaires, and reflective journals. The subjects were Grade IX students at SMPN 1 Ciamis, involving two different groups for a small-scale trial (N=15) and a subsequent large-scale field trial (N=30). Results: Expert validation showed that RT-FReL was very feasible, with an average score of 90.23%. The effectiveness test indicated improvement in student understanding, with N-Gain scores of 0.60 in the small-scale trial and 0.62 in the large-scale trial, both categorized as moderate. Additionally, 93% of students perceived that the real-time feedback feature motivated them to reflect on their learning process. Conclusions: RT-FReL was judged very feasible by experts and showed promising results in improving students’ understanding and encouraging reflective responses during learning. The media can be used as a technology-based alternative to facilitate more responsive science learning in junior high school.
