Abstract

Complete basic immunization is a preventive health effort to protect children from diseases that can be prevented through immunization. The success of immunization programs is not only influenced by health services but also by the role of Posyandu cadres in providing education, motivation, reminding immunization schedules, assisting services, and recording and reporting immunization activities. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the role of Posyandu cadres in immunization services and complete basic immunization compliance at Garuda Health Center Pekanbaru. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and an observational-analytic method. The sample consisted of 92 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) handbook. Data analysis involved univariate and bivariate analyses using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 54 respondents (58.7%) were not compliant and 38 respondents (41.3%) were compliant with complete basic immunization. There was a significant relationship between the role of cadres as educators (p-value=0.036) and motivators (p-value=0.003) with complete basic immunization compliance. Meanwhile, the roles of cadres as schedule reminders, companions, and recorders/reporters showed no significant relationship. In conclusion, there is an association between the roles of educators and motivators and compliance with the full primary immunization schedule; however, there is no association between schedule reminders, accompaniment, record-keeping, and reporting and compliance with the full primary immunization schedule. Therefore, it is recommended that community health centers strengthen the role of community health workers by utilizing the QR codes that have been posted as an educational tool to improve compliance with the full primary immunization schedule.
