Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of character education on students' motivation in school in State Vocational School. This study was a pretest-posttest nonequivalent design. The results indicate that of the t-test results tcount 4.726 with p value 0,000 (0,000<0,05). Then Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, so it is stated that there is a significant difference between the experimental and the control group.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Make A Match dengan Snowball Throwing pada sub materi Invertebrata di kelas X SMA Swasta Al-Hidayah Medan tahun pembelajaran 2015/2016. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Swasta Al-Hidayah Medan terdiri atas 3 kelas yang  berjumlah 105 orang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara cluster random sampling, dimana diambil dua kelas yaitu X-1 yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Make A Match sedangkan kelas X-3 diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Snowball Throwing. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian quasi eksperimen. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah tes objektif  berjumlah 30 soal. Berdasarkan hasil uji persyaratan analisis data kedua kelas, sampel dinyatakan berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar yang diajar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe  Make A Match memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 76,5, artinya lebih baik daripada hasil belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Snowball Throwing yang memperoleh rata-rata sebesar 66. Adanya perbedaan tersebut juga terbukti melalui pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikan α = 0,05, dimana thitung  > ttabel (6,54 < 1,66) yang berarti pada penelitian ini Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif Make A Match dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Snowball Throwing pada sub materi Invertebrata di kelas X SMA Swasta Al-Hidayah Medan tahun pembelajaran 2015/2016 dengan perbandingan 1,1 : 1,0.Kata Kunci: Hasil Belajar, Make A Match, Snowball Throwing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari pemikiran bahwa penanaman nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter dan pembentukan perilaku anak dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai media tanpa kecuali melalui novel Budak Motékar. Dengan demikian penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terkandung dalam novel Budak Motékar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif, kemudian ditinjau dengan menggunakan sosiologi sastra. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Budak Motékar karya Juniarso Ridwan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang terdapat dalam novel Budak Motékar meliputi jujur, tanggung jawab, bekerja keras, mandiri, kreatif, rasa ingin tahu, menghargai prestasi, peduli sosial, bersahabat, peduli lingkungan.

Abstract

Waqf is one of the economic mechanisms of Islam that has the potential to increase economic strength and welfare of the people. Waqf for the welfare of the family and closest family (waqf aulad) is highly recommended in Islam. Asset ability of aulad waqf to be potentially productive cannot be separated from the hands of a nadzir as a waqf manager. To realize optimal management of waqf aulad, management is needed based on the principle of accountability. This study aims to see how accountability of Nadzir as a manager of waqf aulad in Minangkabau. Then, Nadzir's accountability seen from the accountability mechanism summarized by Roberts (1996) is a sense of self accountability, representative accountability, individual management and accounting for independence. The author observes the form of waqf aulad accountability by using a qualitative research case study approach in Lubuk Basung sub-district, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The author analyzes the findings using inductive data analysis and checks the validity of the data using data triangulation techniques. Judging from the accountability mechanism summarized by Roberts, the sense of self accountability, representative accountability, individual management is good. The weakness of Nadzir is the implementation of accounting for independence.

Abstract

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) merupakan penyakit yang terus berkembang dan menjadi masalah kesehatan global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh perceived social norm terhadap fear of stigma pada remaja dengan HIV di Kota Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian studi kasus. 6 informan kunci yang telah terinfeksi HIV sebanyak 4 remaja LSL dan 2 WPS dengan rentang usia 15-24 tahun di kota Palembang. Selain itu, peneliti juga menggali informasi melalui informan kunci ahli antara lain dari Dinas Kesehatan Kota Palembang, pelaksana program HIV/AIDS di fasilitas layanan kesehatan, dan Yayasan Sriwijaya Plus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode lalu data dianalisis menggunakan teknik content analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pandangan masyarakat terhadap penderita HIV masih cukup buruk. Masyarakat memandang penderita HIV sebagai seorang yang menjijikkan dan berdosa, menjadi aib, memiliki penyakit mematikan, dan dianggap terinfeksi karena karma. Pandangan tersebut memunculkan stigma yang akhirnya menimbulkan kesalahpahaman, penolakan, hingga diskriminasi. Akibatnya penderita takut status mereka sebagai pasien HIV diketahui keluarga, orang terdekat, dan masyarakat. Sehingga diperlukan dukungan sosial terutama dari keluarga dan orang terdekat guna menunjang kelangsungan hidup penderita HIV. Selain itu, peran petugas kesehatan diperlukan dalam mengedukasi masyarakat terkait HIV untuk menghilangkan persepsi dan perilaku buruk masyarakat kepada penderita HIV.

Abstract

The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method is a popular approach in education that allows students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through solving real problems. PBL involves steps such as problem identification, research, and presentation of solutions, with a focus on students learning independently and in small groups. Although PBL is effective in improving student learning outcomes, there are challenges such as the need for teachers who are skilled in guiding students and longer time to solve problems. Characteristics of PBL include student-centered learning, teachers as facilitators, and problems as learning stimuli. The PBL strategy emphasizes the importance of starting learning with problems that are relevant to students' real lives and gives students great responsibility in their own learning process. The research method in this study uses qualitative research methods. The method used is library research.

Abstract

This research discusses the application of Joyful Learning which aims to determine students' interest and learning outcomes in mathematics on flat building material in class VII-5. The method used in this research is quantitative. The research instruments used are questionnaires in the form of observation sheets and Learner Worksheets. The data collection technique in this study consisted of conducting a test before the application of Joyful Learning (pre-test) and a test after Joyful Learning (posttest) in one class which became the research subject. Data analysis techniques used, namely validity and reliability tests, normality tests, Wilcoxon tests. The results of this research indicate that the application of the Joyful Learning model is proven to be able to increase student interest and learning outcomes. This is because the learning is fun and makes students play an active role in the learning process. Thus it can be concluded that the Joyful Learning model has a positive effect on student interest and student math learning outcomes on flat building material. Abstract

Enhancing speaking skills is essential, especially for EFL learners who find it challenging to perform English well since it is not their native language. In this case, a debate is promoting a new perspective among the EFL learners that this technique gives them opportunities to have discussions; they can use the language freely; without any forces and strict rules that make them be motivated to speak actively. The instructors can employ this technique to accommodate students with differing learning styles. Debating as a teaching technique brings many advantages to EFL learners, including promoting higher order thinking skill, mastering the course topics, increasing the speed of learning, enhancing social skills, promoting evaluation power, promoting mental health, and leading to creative learning. However, this technique carries its own opponents, is limited, and is challenging to apply. Therefore, this paper aims to introduce debate as an instructional technique, review earlier studies on it, compare it with other similar procedures, and discuss its limitations and challenges as well as its benefits, especially to EFL learners.

Abstract

The Generation Z is often referred to as the internet generation, born between the year 1997-2012, where they came into existence during a time of advanced and modern technology. The development of digital technology, such as sophisticated smartphones, has made it easy and fast for society to obtain various information through the internet. In the field of education, digital-based learning has been implemented by integrating learning content in the form of audio and visual images presented by teachers, accessible to students through websites. With the change in the learning approach, it undoubtedly influences the learning style of a student. Essentially, the learning style of each individual differs from others. Therefore, this research aims to identify the ideal learning style, especially for Generation Z, which coexists with digital media-based learning. Based on existing data and referring to a specific article source, the ideal learning style in this digital era is considered to be audiovisual learning. This involves a combination of sound and visual imagery, such as video simulations, which facilitate students in understanding the content of learning materials.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize silver-palm kernel expeller ash (PKE) composites using in-situ combustion at 600 °C. Compared to previous methods, the novel in-situ combustion was developed to easily obtain composites in the laboratory using simple procedures. The products obtained were characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The results showed that the composites contained silver metal peaks and some peaks of a mixture of compounds predicted to be calcium phosphate, calcium hypophosphate, and other undetermined metal oxides. In addition, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis showed the presence of several important minerals derived from PKE combustion. Composites obtained in this study showed better activity as catalysts in the removal of congo-red under sunlight irradiation compared to only PKE ash. Based on these results, the by-products of palm oil processing had the potential to be used for advanced materials preparation.
