This study aims to describe the implementation of the scientific approach in Civic Education learning at SMPN 1 Sungayang, identify inhibiting factors, and explain teachers’ efforts to overcome the obstacles. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The informants consisted of the vice principal for curriculum affairs, Civic Education teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the scientific approach was implemented through six stages: observing; questioning and predicting; planning and conducting inquiry; processing and analyzing data and information; evaluating and reflecting; and communicating results. The implementation was generally adequate, although student participation was not evenly distributed, particularly in asking questions, analyzing information, and communicating learning outcomes. The main obstacles included limited learning resources, instructional time, facilities and learning media, teachers’ capacity to implement the approach optimally, and low participation and confidence among some students. Teachers addressed these obstacles through varied learning methods, the use of learning media, motivation, group-based learning, and continuous guidance.
