Abstract

Sexual violence in higher education remains a problem that requires serious attention because it can disrupt the creation of a safe and inclusive academic environment. Student responses to the issue of sexual violence are a crucial aspect in supporting efforts to prevent and address cases on campus. This study aims to analyze student responses to sexual violence from a cognitive, affective, and conative perspective, and to examine differences in responses based on gender and underlying factors. The study used a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 400 students at Padang State University and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann-Whitney test. Furthermore, qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with selected informants to strengthen the quantitative results. The results indicate that student responses to sexual violence are categorized as very good across cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. Significant differences were found between male and female students, with female students demonstrating higher levels of knowledge and empathy, while male students tended to prefer direct action in responding to cases of sexual violence. These differences are influenced by students' experiences, perceived vulnerability, and social constructions of gender.
