The management of medications in hospital pharmacy storage facilities is vital for maintaining the accessibility, integrity, and safety of pharmaceuticals. If the protocols for storage and distribution do not adhere to regulations, it can result in damage, expiration, shortages, or excess inventory. Thus, it is important to assess how medications are stored and distributed within hospital pharmacy storage facilities. The purpose of this research was to examine the practices for the storage and distribution of medications at the pharmacy warehouse of Dr. Moewardi Regional General Hospital (RSUD) and to evaluate the level of compliance with relevant medication management guidelines. A descriptive approach was utilized, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Data collection involved observations using checklists, semi-structured discussions with warehouse staff, and reviews of administrative records. The data analysis was descriptive, comparing observed practices in the field against the defined indicators and guidelines for medication management. The evaluation also included checking medication conformity with the National Formulary and categorizing them by usage frequency. The findings revealed that the medication storage procedures comprised 30 indicators, with 29 (96.7%) meeting the required standards and 1 (3.3%) falling short. For the distribution procedures, 15 indicators were assessed: 13 (86.7%) were implemented, and 2 (13.3%) were not. The alignment with the National Formulary was recorded at 92.37%. The classification based on usage rates revealed categories of "fast-moving" and "slow-moving" medications, which need to be monitored for optimal inventory management. In summary, the medication storage and distribution practices at the pharmacy warehouse of Dr. Moewardi RSUD are largely effective and compliant with standards, though certain indicators require enhancement. Ongoing assessment and inventory management are essential to improve the overall efficiency of medication processes.
