<![CDATA[The existence, curriculum integration model, and challenges in implementing kitab kuning learning amid the modernization of Al Washliyah Islamic Senior High Schools. This study aims to analyze the existence, curriculum integration patterns, learning methods, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors of kitab kuning in madrasahs. This qualitative study employed a multi-site design at two locations in Medan. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies to compare curriculum management models. Kitab kuning continues to exist as the primary source of Islamic knowledge and the scholarly identity of Al Washliyah through its integration into the Ministry of Religious Affairs curriculum. There are variations in the models: Madrasah Aliyah Qismul 'Ali strongly maintains the classical tradition, while Madrasah Aliyah Mu'allimin implements a systematic dual curriculum. The implementation of learning demonstrates a transition from traditional methods (sorogan / bandongan) to modern participatory approaches (discussion and media). Evaluation encompasses cognitive aspects, qira'ah ability, and Arabic language grammar. The main supporting factors include teachers' competencies with Islamic boarding school backgrounds and a religious environment. Meanwhile, the greatest challenges are the heterogeneity of students' Arabic language proficiency, limited learning time allocation, and the fact that innovation in learning methods has not yet been optimally developed. In conclusion, kitab kuning has been successfully integrated into the madrasah curriculum functionally through both traditional and modern-systematic models to preserve Islamic identity. This research serves as a strategic reference for developing a hybrid curriculum that combines the classical Islamic tradition with the demands of the modernization of Islamic education.]]>
