<![CDATA[Tujuan Riset / Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effects of workload and competence on employee performance, as well as the mediating role of work stress. Metode Riset / Research Methods: This research employed a quantitative explanatory approach to examine causal relationships among variables. Using proportional random sampling, 104 respondents were selected. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations and analyzed using SEM-PLS with SmartPLS 4. Riset Gap / Novelty: This study extends the literature by investigating work stress as a mediating variable that explains how workload and competence influence employee performance in the public sector context. Hasil / Results: The findings indicate that workload increases work stress and reduces employee performance, while competence decreases work stress and improves employee performance. Work stress negatively affects employee performance and significantly mediates the relationships between workload, competence, and employee performance. Penutup / Conclusion: Employee performance can be enhanced by improving competence and managing workload effectively to minimize work stress. Therefore, public sector organizations should strengthen employee competencies, optimize workload distribution, and implement stress management strategies to improve organizational performance and public service quality.]]>
