Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a serious public health problem in Tarakan City, Indonesia, with case numbers fluctuating annually. This study aimed to analyze trends in DHF incidence and map the spatial distribution of cases and the Larval-Free Index (LFI) in Tarakan City from 2016 to 2025. A descriptive observational study with a retrospective approach was conducted using secondary data obtained from the Tarakan City Health Department. The variables analyzed included the number of DHF cases, incidence rate (IR), case fatality rate (CFR), endemicity status of subdistricts, and the 2025 LFI. Descriptive analysis and Geographic Information System (GIS)-based spatial mapping were performed. The results showed fluctuating trends in DHF incidence throughout the study period. In 2025, 90 cases were reported, with an IR of 35.2 per 100,000 population and a CFR of 1.11%. Most cases occurred in endemic areas. Spatial analysis revealed an uneven distribution of cases, with some urban villages showing lower LFI values but higher dengue incidence. These findings indicate that GIS-based mapping can support the identification of priority areas for surveillance, vector control, and sustainable larval source reduction programs.
