Physics e-module based on local wisdom, mobile apps, and verses of the Quran to improve higher-order thinking skills and student character

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of integration of physics lessons with local culture and religious values, and the minimal use of technology in learning, resulting in students' low learning motivation and low thinking skills (LOTS), as reflected in their learning outcomes. Other impacts include student character, which is considered unimportant, as evidenced by a lack of responsibility, discipline, and honesty in carrying out tasks assigned by their teachers. This study aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed physics e-module. The research method used is R&D using the 4D model. The feasibility of the e-module was tested by 3 validators consisting of material, media, and HOTS instrument validators, and student characteristics. Practicality was tested by collecting student responses to the developed e-module. Effectiveness was tested using the N-Gain formula to see the influence of each variable independently using the t-test, and to see the influence of the e-module on HOTS and Character simultaneously tested using the MANOVA test. The results of the study consist of the results of the feasibility test of materials, media, HOTS instruments, and characters, which sequentially obtained average scores of 3.4; 4.37; 4;3; 4;2. The percentage of student responses to the e-module was 81.33%. The N-Gain Test result was 0.72. The independent t-test obtained a value of 0.00; the MANOVA test obtained a value of 0.006. Thus, it can be concluded that the developed e-module is feasible, practical, and effective for use in physics learning to improve HOTS and student character.
